Lords of the Middle Dark is the first book in The Rings of the Master series by Jack L. Chalker, published in 1986. It is a science fiction novel set on Earth. The protagonists are Hawks, an Amerindian Historian, and China Nightingale, a genetically modified genius and privileged daughter of the powerful China Center Administrator. It has thirteen chapters.
